Women's Swimming Edges Wilkes 88-85

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's swimming notched its third dual meet victory of the season on Friday night, defeating non-conference opponent Wilkes University 88-85.

The Lady Lions recorded five first place finishes during the meet.

Emily Booz (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) had two individual first place finishes to lead the Lady Lions, and she was also part of a relay team that won its event. In the 200 Yard Freestyle, Booz came in first place with a time of 2:11.10. Later, she prevailed in the 100 Yard Backstroke, clocking in at 1:08.21 to finish atop the standings.

Booz joined Elizabeth Anderson (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land), Danielle Bye (Hockessin, DE/Cab Calloway School of the Arts), and Emily Beam (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) in the 400 Yard Medley Relay, and the squad combined for a time of 4:41.34 to place first.

Bye and Beam also each won individual first places. Bye triumphed in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:32.46, and Beam won the 100 Yard Freestyle 1:06.79.

Penn State Altoona women's swimming now heads into winter break and is slated to return to action on Friday, January 12 for a 6:00 p.m. dual meet at non-conference foe Gallaudet University.
