Gallaudet Sinks Women’s Swim Team 110-70

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Penn State Altoona women's swimming started its second semester schedule on Friday evening with a 110-70 loss to non-conference foe Gallaudet University at the Field House Pool.

The Lady Lions still found plenty of success during the meet, compiling five first place finishes.

Danielle Bye (Hockessin, DE/Cab Calloway School of the Arts) led the way for Penn State Altoona, recording two individual first places while being part of a relay team that came in first.

In the 200 Yard Freestyle, Bye prevailed with a time of 2:21.87. Several events later, she won the 100 Yard Butterfly in 1:06.89. Bye joined Emily Beam (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone), Mariah Lee (Ardmore, PA/Haverford), and Hannah Kimmick (Youngwood, PA/Hempfield) in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, and the squad posted a combined time of 2:04.18 to clinch first place.

Beam also picked up an individual win, earning first place in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:49.21. Kimmick accounted for the Lady Lions' other first when she finished atop the standings in the 500 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 6:22.50.

Penn State Altoona women's swimming returns to action on Tuesday, January 16, when the Lady Lions will hold a home dual meet against non-conference Wells College starting at 5:00 p.m.
