ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's swimming ended the four-day Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships on Saturday evening with a fourth place finish out of six teams, as the Lady Lions were helped by some outstanding individual performances.

Cabrini College earned the AMCC crown with a first place total of 545 points, while host school Penn State Behrend came in second with 517.5 points. Alfred State College was third with 512, and Penn State Altoona's total of 184.5 points put it in fourth place. The Lady Lions received stellar performances from freshman Danielle Bye (Hockessin, DE/Cab Calloway School of the Arts) and sophomore Emily Booz (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga).

At the conclusion of Saturday's action, Bye was announced as the AMCC Women's Swimming Newcomer of the Year for being the top point-getter of any first-year women's swimmer during the four-day AMCC Championships this week. This marks the second year in a row that Penn State Altoona women's swimming has produced the AMCC's Newcomer of the Year, as Bye's teammate Booz picked up the same honor last season.

During Saturday night's finals, the fourth and last evening of the AMCC Championships, Bye capped her week by tying for third place in the 100 Yard Freestyle 'A' final with a time of 56.26.

Bye's individual points on Saturday were part of a strong week for the freshman in the conference championships. On Thursday, Bye set a Penn State Altoona team record in the 200 Yard I.M. when she clocked in at 2:18.92 to place second in that 'A' final. On Friday, she set another team record when she claimed the runner-up spot in the 100 Yard Butterfly 'A' final with a time of 1:00.69.

Meanwhile, after having won the 200 Yard Backstroke during the 2017 AMCC Championships, Booz successfully defended her title this year by winning the same event on Saturday. Booz clocked in at 2:13.11 of the 'A' final in the 200 Yard Backstroke, earning an AMCC individual championship.

In the 1,650 Yard Freestyle final, Hannah Kimmick (Youngwood, PA/Hempfield) placed 11th with a time of 21:29.80.

Emily Beam (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) and Elizabeth Anderson (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) each competed in the 'B' final of the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Beam placed fifth in the 'B' group and 11th overall with a time of 3:05.39, and Anderson was sixth in the cut and 12th overall with a time of 3:07.58.

Penn State Altoona ended the championships by placing fourth in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, as the squad of Bye, Beam, Kimmick, and Booz combined for a time of 4:07.39 in the 'A' final of that swim.
