Bye, Booz Officially Earn All-Conference Honors

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team had a pair of athletes officially named to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's All-Conference Team, which was released on Thursday afternoon.

The All-AMCC squad is based on the results and times recorded during the conference swimming championships, which occurred on February 14-17 at Penn State Behrend.

Freshman Danielle Bye (Hockessin, DE/Cab Calloway School of the Arts) and sophomore Emily Booz (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) each took multiple honors within the All-Conference Team.

As announced at the conclusion of last week's AMCC Championships, Bye earned the AMCC Women's Swimming Newcomer of the Year recognition for racking up the most points of any first-year female swimmer during the four-day conference championships. Bye's Newcomer award marks the second year in a row that the Lady Lions have produced the conference's top rookie swimmer, as Booz claimed the same honor last season.

Bye had a standout performance during the AMCC Championships. In day two, she set a Penn State Altoona women's swimming team record in the 200 Yard I.M., when she clocked in at 2:18.92 to place second. In day three, Bye set another team record when she claimed the runner-up spot in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:00.69. The freshman capped her week by tying for third place in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 56.26 during the final day of the championships.

Bye also earned second team All-Conference status for her second place finishes in both the 200 Yard I.M. and 100 Yard Butterfly during the AMCC Championships.

During the regular season, Bye was awarded one AMCC Women's Swimmer of the Week recognition.

Booz picked up both first team and second team All-AMCC honors with a pair of outstanding performances during the conference championships.

Booz was a first team All-Conference swimmer in the 200 Yard Backstroke. After winning that event in the 2017 AMCC Championships, Booz successfully defended her title this year by placing first with a time of 2:13.11 during day four of the championships. The sophomore earned second team All-AMCC honors in the 100 Yard Backstroke when she finished as the runner-up with a time of 1:03.38 during the third day.

Booz was a two-time AMCC Women's Swimmer of the Week selection during the 2017-18 regular season.

Penn State Altoona women's swimming placed fourth in the AMCC Championships, totaling a team score of 184.5 points.
