Women’s Swimming Defeats Bethany 75-37

BETHANY, W.Va. – The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team returned to the pool on Saturday afternoon for its first competition since December 1, and the Lady Lions handed non-conference opponent Bethany College a 75-37 defeat at the John J. Knight Natatorium.

The Lady Lions recorded six first place finishes in the meet,

Danielle Bye (Hockessin, DE/Cab Calloway School of the Arts) recorded three individual first places to lead Penn State Altoona. In the 200 Yard Freestyle, she picked up the win by finishing in 2:14.52. She also posted a first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly, clocking in at 1:14.39. Bye completed the trifecta with a 1:11.06 time in the 100 Yard Backstroke to give herself another first place.

Hannah Kimmick (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) added two first place finishes for the Lady Lions. In the 50 Yard Freestyle, she won with a time of 29.35. Later, she took first in the 500 Yard Freestyle by touching the pads at 6:01.57.

Emily Beam (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) picked up Penn State Altoona's sixth and final first place finish of the day, when she won the 100 Yard Breaststroke in 1:30.80.

Next up, the women's swimming team will travel to face non-conference opponent Wells College on Tuesday, January 15 at 1:00 p.m.
