Lady Lions Swimming Finishes AMCC Championships in Fourth Place

ERIE, Pa. – After the fourth and final day of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Swimming Championships, hosted by Penn State Behrend at its Junker Center Pool on Saturday, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team nailed down fourth place out of six teams.

After four days' worth of competition, the Lady Lions had compiled a total score of 170 points to end up in fourth place. Penn State Behrend won the AMCC title with 673 points, and Alfred State College was the runner-up with 584 points. Franciscan University placed third with 327 points, Pitt-Bradford was fifth with 27 points, and SUNY Delhi was sixth with 13 points.

Saturday night marked the last finals session of the week, and it opened with the 1,650 Yard Freestyle. Hannah Kimmick (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) finished in 20:16.91 to place eighth out of 10 swimmers in the final.

Later, Danielle Bye (Hockessin, DE/Cab Calloway School of the Arts) continued her strong week by coming in second place in the 'A' final of the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 55.76, earning AMCC runner-up status in that swim. Already with two new school records under her belt during this week's championships, Bye came close to setting a third new school record in the 100 Yard Freestyle, coming 0.72 seconds from the current record of 55.04.

Kaitlin Heil (Pittsburgh, PA/CAPA) also swam in the 100 Yard Freestyle, competing in the 'B' final, where she clocked in a 1:03.06 to place sixth in the 'B' cut and 12th overall.

In the 200 Yard Butterfly, Emily Beam (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) earned fourth place in the 'A' final by finishing in 2:40.55.

The AMCC Championships wrapped up with the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, where the team of Bye, Kimmick, Beam, and Heil combined for a time of 4:02.25 to take fourth place in the 'A' final of the event.
