Dangelo’s Record Highlights Lady Lions’ Day at Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. – Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College) set a new team record for the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team, as the Lady Lions split their tri-meet with Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponents Pitt-Bradford and SUNY Delhi on Saturday at the Paul C. Duke III Aquatic Center.

Dangelo placed first in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:13.89 to set a new Penn State Altoona women's swimming team record in that event. It supplants the previous time of 2:16.40, set by former Lady Lion Danielle Bye during the AMCC Championships on February 14, 2019.

Penn State Altoona defeated Pitt-Bradford 200-102 in Saturday's meet, while taking a 231-188 loss to SUNY Delhi.

Including Dangelo's win in the 200 Yard IM, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team totaled five first place finishes during the meet.

Avery Heisey (Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley) recorded the Lady Lions' first win of the day by placing first in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.91. Dangelo's first place in the 200 Yard IM accounted for the team's second first place of the meet.

One event later, Dangelo notched her second first place finish of the day when she won the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 56.56.

Gillian Lowe (York, PA/Dallastown) upped her team's total to four wins in the next event, when she clocked in at 1:14.54 in the 100 Yard Backstroke to come in first place.

Penn State Altoona finished the women's meet by placing atop the standings in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. In that event, Lowe, Heisey, Kaitlin Heil (Pittsburgh, PA/CAPA), and Dangelo combned for a time of 4:08.62 to take first.

Lady Lions swimming turns the calendar to November for its next event, when the team will travel to Steubenville, Ohio on Saturday, November 2 to face AMCC opponent Franciscan University in a dual meet starting at 1:00 p.m.
