Women’s Swimming Edged 124-90 by Alfred State

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's swimming held its first home meet of the season on Saturday afternoon, losing 124-90 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Alfred State College in the Adler Natatorium.

The Lady Lions racked up a season-high seven first place finishes as a team. Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College) accounted for four of the first places, while Avery Heisey (Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley) tallied three first places.

Penn State Altoona's first win of the day came in the sixth event of the women's meet, the 100 Yard Butterfly. In that swim, Dangelo took first place with a time of 1:00.29.

Later in the meet, Dangelo earned first place finishes in back-to-back events. The freshman prevailed in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.95, and she followed that up by taking first in the 500 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 5:26.88.

One event later, Dangelo logged a time of 2:15.55 in the 200 Yard IM to finish atop the standings in that event, securing her team-high fourth individual win of the day.

Heisey's first win of the day came in the seventh event, the 50 Yard Freestyle, when she posted a time of 26.48. She won the very next event, the 100 Yard Freestyle, by finishing in 59.53. Later in the meet, Heisey took first in the 50 Yard Butterfly with a time of 29.77.

Penn State Altoona women's swimming returns to action next weekend, when the Lady Lions will compete in the Erie Community College Invitational from Friday, November 22 through Sunday, November 24.
