Lady Lions Swimming Loses to Behrend

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's swimming hosted Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon in the Adler Natatorium, and the Lady Lions suffered a 118-69 loss to the visitors.

Penn State Altoona recorded five first place finishes as a team, including three individual first places and one new team record from Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College).

Dangelo won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.98, and several swims later, she took first in the 200 Yard Breaststroke by clocking in at 2:34.73. Dangelo set a new Penn State Altoona women's swimming team record in her third win of the afternoon, as she posted a time of 4:43.67 in the 400 Yard IM. That time shattered the previous record of 5:03.37, which was set by former swimmer Paetyn Zeamer on February 10, 2017 during the AMCC Championships.

The Lady Lions won the meet's final event, the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, as the foursome of Heisey, Gillian Lowe (York, PA/Dallastown), Kaitlin Heil (Pittsburgh, PA/CAPA), and Dangelo combined for a time of 1:49.84 to take first.

Penn State Altoona women's swimming's next competition will take place in 2020, when the Lady Lions open a string of three home meets with a dual meet against non-conference opponent Bethany College on Saturday, January 11 at 1:00 p.m.
