Women's Tennis Drops Season Opener to Defending AMCC Champs

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - Penn State Altoona women's tennis opened its 2017 schedule on Monday afternoon, traveling to face the reigning Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference champion Franciscan University squad. The Lady Lions were swept 9-0 in the match at the Belleview Courts.

Franciscan (1-1, 1-0 AMCC) grabbed a 3-0 lead after doubles play, winning the trio of doubles matches by scores of 8-0, 8-2, and 8-6.

The Lady Barons went on to sweep all six singles matches, en route to the 9-0 victory.

Penn State Altoona (0-1, 0-1 AMCC) continues its schedule next Saturday, September 9 when it travels for another AMCC matchup at D'Youville College at 1:00 p.m.
