Women's Tennis Gets Past La Roche 5-4

ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's tennis won its fourth Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match in a row on Friday evening, defeating conference opponent La Roche College 5-4 at ProCare Fitness Center.

The Lady Lions (5-4, 5-2 AMCC) took two out of three points in the doubles portion of the match. Brayley Lewis (Roaring Spring, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle)/Annie Ruggles (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) won 8-2 in No. 2 doubles, and Penn State Altoona also picked up a point by forfeit in No. 3 doubles.

In singles, Penn State Altoona split the six matches with La Roche (2-6, 2-5 AMCC). Lewis prevailed 7-5, 2-6, 10-8 in No. 2 singles, and the Lady Lions also got points by forfeit in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles slots.

Penn State Altoona women's tennis hosts another home match tomorrow, Saturday, September 30 against non-conference opponent Frostburg State University at 1:00 p.m. at the Altoona Area High School Leopold Tennis Courts.
