Women’s Tennis Falls 8-1 to Franciscan

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's tennis suffered an 8-1 loss to defending Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference champion Franciscan University on Friday afternoon at the Adler Tennis Courts.

Franciscan (6-0, 4-0 AMCC) swept doubles play, then won five out of six singles matches to take the seven-point victory.

Penn State Altoona (3-3, 3-1 AMCC) got its lone point in No. 1 singles, where Jessica Stevens (Altoona, PA/Altoona) continued her impressive start to her freshman season with a 6-3, 6-4 win over her opponent. The victory boosts Stevens' singles record to a team-best 6-0 this season.

Lady Lions tennis has another AMCC match tomorrow, Saturday, September 22, when the team hits the road to Erie to play Penn State Behrend at 1:00 p.m.
