Women’s Tennis Drops Match at Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's tennis suffered a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon at the Kessel Athletic Complex.

Penn State Altoona (5-8, 3-4 AMCC) dropped two out of three in doubles, with the Lady Lions salvaging a point in the No. 2 doubles match. In that spot, Victoria Acker (Cresson, PA/Penn Cambria)/Sophia Girol (South Park, PA/South Park) grabbed an 8-4 victory for the duo's team-leading eighth doubles win together this season.

Pitt-Bradford (5-5, 4-4 AMCC) went on to win four out of six singles matches to pick up the comfortable win. Penn State Altoona's points came courtesy of Brayley Lewis (Roaring Spring, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle), who won 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match, and Girol, who prevailed 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 4 slot. For Girol, it was her team-high ninth singles win this season.

Women's tennis gets back to action tomorrow, Sunday, October 6, when the Lady Lions will wrap up their fall regular season schedule with a home match against Pitt-Greensburg beginning at 12:00 p.m.
