Women's Volleyball Goes 1-1 in Second Day at Battlefield Classic

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's volleyball recorded one win and one loss during the second and final day of the Gettysburg College Battlefield Classic on Saturday, defeating Marywood University 3-1 before losing to 3-0 to Arcadia University in the Hauser Field House.

The Lady Lions (2-2) earned a 26-24, 20-25, 25-19, 25-20 victory over Marywood (0-3) to start the day.

Josie Stovall (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) led Penn State Altoona in kills and blocks, posting 10 kills, two solo blocks, and one block assist. Lauren Diller (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) added seven kills, 11 digs, and a solo block, and Kelsey Bristol (Troy, PA/Troy) finished with five kills, 11 digs, and one solo block.

Lauren Moran (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop) posted team-highs in set assists and digs, recording 24 assists and 13 digs.

Emily Bryan (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) and Bristol each notched three service aces.

In the Lady Lions' second and last match of the day, the team was swept 25-23, 25-21, 25-19 by Arcadia (3-1).

Bristol led Penn State Altoona with eight kills and six digs, and she also added one solo block. Stovall racked up three solo blocks to go along with five kills, and Velanna Skripek (Moshannon, PA/Bald Eagle) added five kills.

Moran tallied 19 assists, while Nikki So (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia/International School) and Diller contributed five digs apiece.

Next up, Penn State Altoona women's volleyball will host its first home match of the season on Tuesday, September 5 at 7:00 p.m. against non-conference opponent Shenandoah University. That match will mark the first varsity athletic event held in the new Adler Arena, part of the multi-million dollar expansion and renovation project of Penn State Altoona's Adler Athletic Complex.

Notes: At the conclusion of the weekend's matches, Bristol was one of 11 total players named to the All-Tournament Team for the Gettysburg Classic. In four matches on Friday and Saturday, she led Penn State Altoona with 32 kills (2.13 kills per set) while adding 43 digs (2.87 digs per set), four total blocks (0.27 blocks per set), and four aces (0.27 aces per set).
