Lady Lions Start Battlefield Classic With Losses to Harrisburg, Dickinson

GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Penn State Altoona women's volleyball opened its 2018 schedule on Friday evening in the Gettysburg College Battlefield Classic, and the Lady Lions suffered a 3-1 loss to Penn State Harrisburg and a 3-0 loss to Dickinson College in the Bream Gymnasium.

In the first match of the day, the Lady Lions (0-2) fell 25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 28-26 to Penn State Harrisburg.

Finalized statistics are not yet available from this match.

In the team's second match, Penn State Altoona was handed a 25-19, 25-12, 25-23 loss by Dickinson.

Kelsey Bristol (Troy, PA/Troy) led the Lady Lions in kills with nine, and she also had a team-high 12 digs. Kaitlin Cassaday (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) totaled 11 digs and recorded a match-high four service aces.

Lauren Moran (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop) had eight assists and four digs, while Emily Bryan (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) had four assists and six digs.

Penn State Altoona women's volleyball is back in action tomorrow, Saturday, September 1 for day two of the Battlefield Classic, when they will take on McDaniel College at 12:00 p.m. and Gallaudet University at 2:00 p.m.
