Lady Lions Lose Two in Gettysburg on Saturday
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's volleyball wrapped up its participation in the season-opening Gettysburg College Battlefield Classic on Saturday afternoon, losing 3-0 to McDaniel College and 3-1 to Gallaudet University at the Bream Gymnasium.
Penn State Altoona (0-4) fell 25-20, 25-17, 25-18 to McDaniel (4-0) to start its day.
Kelsey Bristol (Troy, PA/Troy) had a team-high nine kills and also recorded six digs. Tara Ryan (Waldwick, NJ/Waldwick) and Eden Taddei (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) finished with two kills apiece. Kaitlin Cassaday (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) notched one solo block to go along with five digs.
Nicole Kiser (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) posted a match-high 13 digs, and Lauren Moran (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop) had a team-best 14 assists.
In Penn State Altoona's second and final match of the day, it lost 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-11 to Gallaudet (1-3).
Bristol and Alexis Cannistraci (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) tied for the team-high in kills with six apiece, with Bristol also contributing five digs. Emily Bryan (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) added four kills and a team-high two solo blocks.
Kiser had a team-high 11 digs, and Moran posted a team-best 16 assists to go along wth nine digs.
Notes: Penn State Altoona's Bristol was named to the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic's All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the weekend's matches.
