Lady Lions Volleyball Swept 3-0 by Mounties

CRESSON, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's volleyball lost 3-0 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference rival Mount Aloysius College on Tuesday night at the Athletic Convocation and Wellness Center.

Mount Aloysius (11-8, 5-0 AMCC) stayed undefeated in AMCC matches this season, posting a 25-20, 25-17, 25-22 win.

Kelsey Bristol (Troy, PA/Troy) led Penn State Altoona (3-12, 1-2 AMCC) in both kills and digs, finishing with nine kills and 17 digs. Kaitlin Cassaday (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) was second on the squad in kills with six, while Alexis Cannistraci (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) was third with five kills.

Emily Bryan (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) had the second-highest digs total for Penn State Altoona, finishing the match with 16 digs to go along with seven set assists. Lauren Moran (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop) recorded a team-high 16 assists and two service aces while chipping in nine digs. Kaila Clawson (Altoona, PA/Altoona) also had nine digs, and Nicole Kiser (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) totaled six digs.

Paige Burk (Claysburg, PA/Claysburg-Kimmel) and Eden Taddei (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) finished with two block assists each to lead the Lady Lions in total blocks. Lea Crofcheck (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) and Cannistraci had one block assist each.

Penn State Altoona tied its season-low for attack errors, committing just 13 errors in three sets. But the Lady Lions were unable to use that to their advantage, still suffering the loss to Mount Aloysius.

Women's volleyball goes back into non-conference play this weekend. On Friday, October 5, the Lady Lions travel to Williamsport, Pa. to compete in the Lycoming Tip-Off Classic, where they will play Alfred State College at 4:00 p.m. and the University of Rochester at 8:00 p.m. The next day, Saturday, October 6, Penn State Altoona goes to Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to play New Jersey City University at 2:00 p.m. and Wilkes at 4:00 p.m.
