Women’s Volleyball Pockets Two Wins

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's volleyball went 2-0 in a pair of matches at Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday, posting 3-1 wins over Moravian College and host Harrisburg at the Capital Union Building.

The Lady Lions (3-1) have now won three of their first four matches of the season.

Match One: Penn State Altoona 3, Moravian 1

Penn State Altoona topped Moravian (3-4) 25-18, 19-25, 25-19, 25-20.

Jenna Bauer (Ebensburg, PA/Central Cambria) totaled 12 kills for the Lady Lions to go along with 11 digs, a service ace, and a block assist. Lydia Mock (Alum Bank, PA/Chestnut Ridge) tallied 10 kills and two block assists while leading the team in digs with 16 and aces with three.

Lauren Diller (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) added eight kills, 11 digs, and two aces, and she led Penn State Altoona in blocks with two solos and four block assists. Lilia Farach (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/International School of Panama) also had seven kills and recorded one block assist.

Emily Bryan (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) had a team-high 24 assists and also accumulated 13 digs. Kayla Moran (Boalsburg, PA/State College) posted 14 assists and eight digs, while chipping in three kills.

Alexis Cannistraci (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) had three kills, two block assists, and one solo block. Sara Russo (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) added two block assists, and Lexie Dorcon (Berlin, PA/Berlin Brothersvalley) had seven digs.

Match Two: Penn State Altoona 3, Penn State Harrisburg 1

The Lady Lions wrapped up their second win of the day with a 25-19, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23 decision over Penn State Harrisburg (3-3).

Bauer again led Penn State Altoona in kills with 13 – tying for the match-high mark – and adding eight digs, two aces, and one block assist. Mock put up nine kills, two aces, and one solo block, and she tied for the team lead in digs with 19.

Diller also had 19 digs, led the team in blocks with two solos and two block assists, and contributed six kills. Cannistraci had five kills, one solo block, and one block assist.

Moran posted a team-high 17 assists to go along with eight digs, and Bryan had 10 assists and eight digs.

Farach and Russo added one block assist each, and Dorcon had nine digs and two aces.

Next, the Penn State Altoona women's volleyball team will travel to play Grove City College on Tuesday, September 10 at 7:00 p.m.
