Lady Lions Split First AMCC Matches in Erie

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's volleyball started its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference schedule on Saturday at Penn State Behrend's Junker Center, and the Lady Lions suffered a 3-1 loss to Behrend in their first match of the day before bouncing back for a 3-0 win over Medaille College in the second match.

Penn State Altoona's (4-8, 1-1 AMCC) win in the second match broke a seven-match losing streak, as the Lady Lions put their first conference win of the season on the board.

Match One: Penn State Behrend 3, Penn State Altoona 1

In a hard-fought match, Behrend (6-8, 1-0 AMCC) prevailed 25-21, 27-25, 29-31, 28-26.

Lauren Diller (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) had a team-high 13 kills to go along with 12 digs for Penn State Altoona, and she also recorded a match-high seven block assists to tie for the second-most block assists in a match in Lady Lions volleyball history.

Jenna Bauer (Ebensburg, PA/Central Cambria) totaled 12 kills, two block assists, and a season-high 22 digs. Lydia Mock (Alum Bank, PA/Chestnut Ridge) also had 12 kills while finishing with 19 digs, three block assists, and a team-high three service aces.

Emily Bryan (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) led the team in assists with 17, and she also tallied a season-high 22 digs to tie for the team lead. Kayla Moran (Boalsburg, PA/State College) added 13 assists and two aces, while also contributing a season-best 18 digs.

Lexie Dorcon (Berlin, PA/Berlin Brothersvalley) posted 13 digs and chipped in four assists, and Alexis Cannistraci (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) had three block assists and a solo block.

Match Two: Penn State Altoona 3, Medaille 0

Penn State Altoona recorded its first AMCC win of the season with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-17 sweep of Medaille (2-13, 0-2 AMCC).

Bauer put up a match-high 12 kills for the Lady Lions to go along with 10 digs, and Mock finished with eight kills, nine digs, and two block assists.

Bryan tallied a team-best 16 assists, and Moran totaled 14 assists.

Dorcon finished with a team-high 11 digs and two aces. Diller posted one solo block and one  block assist to go along with nine digs and four kills.

Next up, Penn State Altoona women's volleyball heads back into non-conference play, as the Lady Lions will travel to play Waynesburg University on Thursday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m.
