Baseball, Softball Doubleheaders Snowed Out

ALTOONA, Pa. – Another accumulation of snowfall has forced the postponement of Monday's home doubleheaders for both the Penn State Altoona baseball and softball teams.

The Altoona area received several inches of snow in the early morning hours on Monday, making baseball and softball field conditions unplayable for Monday's scheduled games.

Penn State Altoona baseball's home doubleheader against Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg, which was originally set to occur last Wednesday, March 28 before being moved to today, Monday, April 2, has been postponed due to the snow. The games have been rescheduled for next Monday, April 9 and will be played at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, Pa. Game one is slated to start at 1:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, Penn State Altoona softball's home doubleheader against AMCC opponent La Roche College, which was originally scheduled for last Thursday, March 29 before a pair of postponements moved the games to Monday, April 2, has also been postponed. That doubleheader will be made up on Thursday, April 19 with a start time of 3:00 p.m. at Stewart Athletic Field.

Check the Penn State Altoona Athletics website or social media accounts for any further updates.

Lions baseball is scheduled to return to action tomorrow, Tuesday, April 3 for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader at AMCC opponent Pitt-Bradford. Lady Lions softball's next scheduled games are also tomorrow, Tuesday, April 3, when the team is slated to travel to play non-conference opponent Juniata College for a twinbill beginning at 3:00 p.m.

However, the expectation of rain and poor field conditions will likely affect this week's baseball and softball schedules.
