WARREN, Ohio – Penn State Altoona men's golf placed fourth in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships, following the second and final day of competition at Avalon Lakes Golf and Country Club on Monday.

Pitt-Bradford boasted a 14-stroke improvement from their first round score, ascending the standings in day two and winning the AMCC title with a combined score of 626. Penn State Behrend improved on their round one score by 19 strokes, finishing with a combined score of 635 to take second place. La Roche College came in third with 640.

Penn State Altoona shot 323 as a team during day two, finishing with a combined score of 641. The Lions placed ahead of Pitt-Greensburg (655), Medaille College (658), Mount Aloysius College (661), D'Youville College (784), and Hilbert College (807).

"Obviously, we are disappointed to not hold the lead. But Pitt-Bradford won it today, we didn't lose it," said Penn State Altoona head coach Tom Koehle. "Coach [Keith] Stauffer's crew played some great golf after the turn to hold the lead down the stretch."

After missing Sunday's first round due to illness, Carter Fischer (Bellefonte, PA/Philipsburg-Osceola) returned to action on Monday and shot a team-best 77 on the par 72 course.

"Carter played great today coming off a day of rest. His talent and ability came through today," Koehle said. "I'm really pleased at his score today."

Luke Hoffnagle (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) shot 80 in Monday's round, finishing with a two-day score of 157 to tie for seventh place individually out of 44 golfers. Jimmy Gillespie (Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley) shot 82, recording a combined score of 163 to tie for 15th place. Payton Guelich (Philipsburg, PA/Philipsburg-Osceola) carded an 84, finishing with a total score of 165 to tie for 19th, and Ethan Yohe (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) shot 93 to post a combined score of 172 to tie for 30th place.

"Starting four sophomores and a freshman, we will learn from this experience," said Koehle. "We will continue to learn and build off of a good season. A win today would have made it a great season."
