Lions Golf in Third After Day One at AMCCs

WARREN, Ohio – After day one of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships at Avalon Lakes Golf and Country Club on Sunday, the Penn State Altoona men's golf team found itself in third place out of nine teams.

The Lions shot 329 to come in third, placing behind first place Pitt-Bradford (320) and second place Penn State Behrend (324). Penn State Altoona finished the first day of the championships ahead of La Roche University (341), Medaille College (354), Mount Aloysius College (367), Hilbert College (371), D'Youville College (390), and Pitt-Greensburg (411).

Ethan Yohe (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) shot a team-low 78 to place third out of 45 individuals during day one. Ryan Marshall (Pittsburgh, PA/Peters Township) tied for eighth place by shooting 81.

Jacob Mrvos (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) and Jimmy Gillespie (Glen Mills, PA/Garnet Valley) each carded an 85 to tie for 16th place, and Luke Hoffnagle (York, PA/Spring Grove) rounded out the Lions' lineup by shooting 87 to place 24th.

Penn State Altoona men's golf will look to ascend the standings during the second and final day of the AMCC Championships tomorrow, Monday, October 14. Tee times are expected at 9:00 a.m.
