Men’s Swimming Downed by Alfred State

ALFRED, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona men's swimming lost 173-76 at Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Alfred State College on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions recorded a trio of first place finishes in the meet.

In the first event of the men's meet, the 400 Yard Medley Relay, the team of Cooper Gilkey (Ebensburg, PA/Central Cambria), Greg Landis (York, PA/West York), Tanner Yaw (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra), and Andrew Lesnett (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) combined for a time of 4:05.38 to come in first place.

Yaw also picked up a pair of first place finishes himself. In the 200 Yard Freestyle, he won with a time of 1:59.03. Later, Yaw finished first in the 50 Yard Butterfly by clocking in at 24.99.

Penn State Altoona also grabbed four second place finishes.

Landis was second in the 50 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 32.15. Yaw earned a second place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke, clocking in at 1:02.21. Lesnett was the runner-up in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.78, and he also later took second in the 200 Yard IM by finishing in 2:18.07.

Next, the Lions swimming team will travel to new AMCC opponent SUNY Delhi on Saturday, December 1 for a dual meet starting at 11:30 a.m.
