BUFFALO, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona women's basketball wrapped up its western New York road trip this weekend with a 71-59 loss at the hands of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Medaille College at the Sullivan Center.

The Lady Lions (11-10, 9-6 AMCC) struggled on the boards and from three-point range. Medaille (8-12, 6-7 AMCC) out-rebounded Penn State Altoona 48-26 while limiting the Lady Lions to a 1-for-13 performance from beyond the arc.

Finnley Christine (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) scored a team-high 14 points for Penn State Altoona while adding five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. With 14 points, Christine surpassed 900 career points and currently sits in seventh place in Lady Lions program history with 911 career points scored.

Kaley Strittmatter (Williamsburg, PA/Penn Cambria) added 10 points and six rebounds, and Emily Lehman (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) produced 10 points and three boards coming off the bench. Paige Burk (Claysburg, PA/Claysburg-Kimmel) dished out a career-high nine assists to lead all players in the game, and she also had a game-high four steals to go along with eight points and three boards.

Alexis Cannistraci (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) and Jessica Stevens (Altoona, PA/Altoona) each finished with six points and four rebounds, and Alivia Borlie (Belsano, PA/Bishop Carroll) chipped in five points.

Morgan Kennedy led Medaille with 17 points, while Ranya Rumph added 16 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Breanna Walker finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Medaille established an early lead, going up 16-12 by the end of the first quarter. Two layups from Kennedy and another by Walker helped the Lady Mavericks get out to a 6-0 advantage to start the game.

A Strittmatter free throw, Christine three-pointer, and Lehman layup helped Penn State Altoona tie the score 6-6, and another basket from Lehman kept the score even at eight. But Medaille ended the quarter on an 8-4 run to lead by four.

Penn State Altoona tied things back up early in the second quarter behind jumpers from Lehman and Strittmatter. Later in the period, Medaille went up 26-20 following a Surenaty Davis-Patte jump shot, but baskets from Cannistraci and Stevens narrowed Penn State Altoona's deficit to 26-25 with 57 seconds until halftime. Medaille got the last word in the half, when Rumph's layup at the 27-second mark made it 28-25.

The three-point difference held through the third quarter, as both teams accumulated 16 points during the period. Strittmatter's jumper at 6:02 helped the Lady Lions get back on top, 32-30, briefly. But Medaille grabbed the lead back after Walker's three-pointer and layup gave her team a 35-32 lead by the 5-minute mark.

Davis-Patte's basket with 51 seconds left in the third quarter extended Medaille's advantage to 44-37, but jumpers from Lehman and Christine worked Penn State Altoona's deficit back down to three points.

But Medaille took control of the game in the fourth quarter, as it posted a 27-18 scoring differential over Penn State Altoona. The Lady Mavericks' big performance in the period was keyed by a 17-7 run to start the quarter, capped by Kennedy's three-pointer at 4:42 that gave Medaille its largest lead of the game, 61-44.

The Lady Lions will look to shake off their two-game skid on Saturday, February 9, when the team hosts AMCC opponent D'Youville College for a 1:00 p.m. contest in the Adler Arena. That game will be the squad's annual Pink Zone game, raising money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.
