Women’s Soccer Edged 2-1 at Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's soccer came out on the losing end of a close game on Friday afternoon, when the Lady Lions were defeated 2-1 by Lycoming College at UPMC Field.

Sadie McConnell (New Enterprise, PA/Northern Bedford) scored her second goal of the season for Penn State Altoona (1-3-1), while Sarah Huston (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville) recorded the assist. Kaitlyn Harmon (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) made seven saves in goal for the Lady Lions.

After a scoreless first half, Penn State Altoona struck first to jump ahead midway through the second half. Huston set up McConnell, who scored at 69:23 to put the Lady Lions on top, 1-0.

But Lycoming (3-2-1) tied the score just under two minutes later, when Megan Oyler's goal at 71:22 knotted things up 1-1. Gabby Perez put the Warriors ahead for good with her goal at 88:09.

Lycoming led Penn State Altoona in shots attempted (26-11), shots on goal (9-7), and corner kicks (6-2).

McConnell finished with a game-high seven shots attempted and five shots on goal. Huston and Alana Masullo (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) each had one shot on goal for the Lady Lions.

Next up for Penn State Altoona women's soccer is another non-conference game on the road, as the Lady Lions will travel to face Juniata College on Wednesday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m.
