Women’s Soccer Falls 3-0 at Mount Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's soccer lost 3-0 on Tuesday night to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Mount Aloysius College at the Walker Athletic Complex.

Kaitlyn Harmon (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) made four saves in goal for Penn State Altoona (4-8-2, 2-4-1 AMCC), and Kierra Irwin (Altoona, PA/Altoona) tied the game-high in shots with two on goal and three attempted in total.

Mount Aloysius (8-2-4, 3-1-2 AMCC) put the game's first goal on the scoreboard at 12:31, when Summer Schell's free kick into the box found Maddie Doyle, who sent a shot into the net to make it 1-0.

It took until the latter stages of the second half for another goal to be scored. The Lady Mounties tacked goals on to their lead at 78:15, when Sam Torrenti sent a long shot past the keeper and into the goal, and at 85:52, when Kourtney Walls took a cross from Jenna Gardner and scored to make it 3-0.

Mount Aloysius led Penn State Altoona in shots attempted (10-7) and shots on goal (7-3), while the Lady Lions held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Penn State Altoona women's soccer has its final home game of the 2019 regular season this Saturday, October 19 at 3:15 p.m., when the Lady Lions will host AMCC foe Pitt-Bradford. It will also be Senior Day for the women's soccer team that afternoon.
