Women’s Swimming Starts Season With 73-33 Win

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's swimming got its 2018-19 season off to a good start on Saturday afternoon, when the Lady Lions earned a 73-33 victory over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford in the Adler Natatorium.

Penn State Altoona racked up six first place finishes during its win.

Danielle Bye (Hockessin, DE/Cab Calloway School of the Arts) led the way for her team, as she picked up three individual first places. In the 200 Yard IM, she placed first with a time of 2:26.20. One event later, Bye won the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:00.25. Bye capped her day off by prevailing in the very next event, the 100 Yard Backstroke, with a time of 1:09.46.

Kaitlin Heil (Pittsburgh, PA/CAPA) notched her first collegiate individual win, as she placed first in the 50 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 29.15. Emily Beam (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) earned first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing in 1:11.44. Hannah Kimmick (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) took first in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 6:23.04.

Next up, Penn State Altoona women's swimming will host AMCC opponent Franciscan University for a dual meet on Saturday, November 3 at 1:00 p.m.
