Women’s Swimming Finishes Third at Delhi Invitational

DELHI, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona women's swimming took third place out of four teams in Saturday's SUNY Delhi Fall Invitational at the Kunsela Hall Aquatics Center.

The Lady Lions finished with a team score of 167 points, ranking ahead of fourth place SUNY Delhi and its total of 67 points. Cazenovia College won the women's invitational with 223 points, and Bard College at Simon's Rock took runner-up status with 184 points.

Penn State Altoona recorded four first place finishes during Saturday's action.

In the first event of the women's meet, the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the squad of Danielle Bye (Hockessin, DE/Cab Calloway School of the Arts), Hannah Kimmick (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield), Emily Beam (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone), and Kaitlin Heil (Pittsburgh, PA/CAPA) took first place with a combined time of 2:12.03.

Bye earned an individual first place in the 200 Yard IM, where she won with a time of 2:27.35. Beam also picked up an individual win, finished atop the standings in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:11.49.

The Lady Lions earned another first place in a relay event, as Heil, Kimmick, Beam, and Bye won the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay by posting a total time of 1:57.79.

With the team's final meet of the calendar year now behind it, the Lady Lions will return on Saturday, January 12, when they will travel to face non-conference opponent Bethany College for a dual meet starting at 1:00 p.m.
