Women’s Swimming Falls 108-67 at Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In its second meet of the week, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team lost 108-67 to non-conference opponent Gallaudet University at the Field House Pool on Friday night.

Despite the loss, the Lady Lions found success by totaling a season-high seven first place finishes. Hannah Kimmick (Greensburg, PA/Hempfield) had a season-best four first places individually, while Danielle Bye (Hockessin, DE/Cab Calloway School of the Arts) tied her season-high with three individual first places.

Kimmick started her evening by winning back-to-back events. In the 1000 Yard Freestyle, she took first place with a time of 12:31.15. She won the next event, the 200 Yard Freestyle, with a time of 2:21.71.

Later, Kimmick finished first in the 100 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 1:07.58. She recorded her fourth victory of the night when she claimed first place in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:45.84.

Bye grabbed her first win of the night in the 100 Yard Backstroke, where she finished with a time of 1:08.40 to edge the second place finisher by 0.48 seconds. Two events later, she triumphed in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 29.62. Bye secured her third first place when she finished atop the standings in the 100 Yard Butterfly, clocking in at 1:06.10.

In its next meet, the Penn State Altoona women's swimming team travels to Erie, Pa. to face Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend on Saturday, January 26 at 1:00 p.m. That date marks the final event of the regular season for the Lady Lions, who will then prepare for the conference championships in February.
