Women's Tennis Downed 6-3 at Juniata
HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Penn State Altoona women's tennis suffered a 6-3 loss to non-conference opponent Juniata College on Wednesday.
Juniata (4-0) swept doubles play, winning all three doubles matches to grab three early points. Penn State Altoona (2-3) split the day's six singles matches with the Eagles to take three points of their own, but it was not enough to defeat the home team.
Annie Ruggles (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) won 6-4, 6-1 in No. 4 singles, Patricia Whelan (Newburgh, NY/John S. Burke Catholic) prevailed 6-2, 4-6 (10-8) in the No. 5 singles match, and Victoria Acker (Cresson, PA/Penn Cambria) earned a 2-6, 6-1 (10-8) victory in the No. 6 slot.
Next up, Lady Lions tennis hosts Division II Clarion University for a match tomorrow, Thursday, September 21 at 3:30 p.m. at the Altoona Area High School Leopold Tennis Courts.
