ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's tennis came out on the wrong side of a close loss on Saturday afternoon at the Adler Tennis Courts, falling 5-4 to non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College.

Playing on the new Adler Tennis Courts on campus for the first time in the 2018 regular season, Penn State Altoona (2-2) took a 2-1 lead after doubles. In No. 1 doubles, Jessica Stevens (Altoona, PA/Altoona)/Sadie Buzan earned a 9-7 victory. In No. 2 doubles, Brayley Lewis (Roaring Spring, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle)/Annie Ruggles (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) pulled out an 8-6 win.

But St. Vincent (2-1) pulled out some close wins in singles to turn the tables, taking four out of six to come back and win. Penn State Altoona got points in the first two singles flights, as Stevens prevailed 6-0, 6-3 in the No. 1 match and Lewis won 6-3, 1-6, 10-7 in the No. 2 slot.

Lady Lions tennis returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, September 16 for an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match on the road. The team travels to face Pitt-Greensburg for a match starting at 12:00 p.m.
