Women’s Tennis Drops Match to Saint Vincent

ALTOONA, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's tennis was handed a 7-2 loss by non-conference opponent Saint Vincent College on Saturday afternoon at the Adler Tennis Courts.

St. Vincent (5-1) established a 3-0 lead in the match by sweeping doubles play, and the Bearcats proceeded to take four out of six singles matches to win by five points.

Penn State Altoona (3-7) picked up points in the No. 3 and No. 5 singles spots. In No. 3 singles, Sophia Girol (South Park, PA/South Park) earned a 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 victory to post her team-best sixth singles win of the season. In the No. 5 match, Alivia Serenita (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) picked up her first collegiate win with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over her opponent.

Penn State Altoona women's tennis returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, September 29, when the Lady Lions hit the road to play another non-conference foe, Waynesburg University, at 1:30 p.m.
