Women’s Volleyball Splits Saturday Matches at LVC

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's volleyball wrapped up its weekend in the Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen Quad on Saturday, losing 3-0 to Franklin & Marshall College before bouncing back to win 3-2 over Penn State Berks in the Sorrentino Gymnasium.

The Lady Lions (2-7) started the day with a 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 loss to Franklin & Marshall (3-3).

Kelsey Bristol (Troy, PA/Troy) had a team-high six kills and eight digs, and Kaitlin Cassaday (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) posted four kills. Emily Bryan (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro) put up nine assists while adding five digs, and Kaila Clawson (Altoona, PA/Altoona) tied for the team lead in digs with eight.

Versus Penn State Berks (0-7), the Lady Lions pulled out a 25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 20-25, 15-5 win.

Bristol led Penn State Altoona in kills and digs, recording 10 kills and 17 digs. Alexis Cannistraci (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) posted team-highs with four total blocks (two solo blocks, two block assists) and two service aces while tallying nine kills and seven digs, and Paige Burk (Claysburg, PA/Claysurg-Kimmel) added eight kills and 10 digs. Cassaday chipped in six kills and seven digs.

Lauren Moran (Johnstown, PA/Westmont Hilltop) had a team-best 15 assists to go along with 14 digs, and Bryan posted 12 assists, eight digs, and four kills. Alyson Onder (Snow Shoe, PA/Bald Eagle) recorded 15 digs, and Clawson had 10 digs.

Penn State Altoona women's volleyball returns home for a match against non-conference opponent Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m.

Notes: Lady Lions junior Bryan eclipsed the 1,000 assists mark for her collegiate career during today's action.
