Men’s Soccer Falls 2-0 at Pitt-Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's soccer added an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss to its record on Wednesday afternoon, when the Lions were shut out 2-0 by conference foe Pitt-Greensburg at Ridilla Field.

Despite outshooting Pitt-Greensburg (5-9-1, 2-4 AMCC) in shot attempts by a 13-10 margin, Penn State Altoona (9-6, 3-4 AMCC) was unable to put any goals on the scoreboard while the Bobcats provided enough offense to win the game.

Tommy Packevicz (Trumbull, CT/Christian Heritage) started at goalkeeper and made four saves for the Lions. Ciaran Corr (Newtown Square, PA/Marple Newtown) led all players in the game with five shot attempts, including two shots on goal. Grady Ballard (State College, PA/State College) returned to the lineup and provided four shot attempts with one shot on goal.

Pitt-Greensburg grabbed the lead at 32:37, when Jason Argueta's goal put the Bobcats on the board. The home team doubled its lead just 20 seconds before halftime on Carson Gilarno's score, and the Bobcats successfully protected their 2-0 lead for the remainder of the game.

Pitt-Greensburg finished the day with a narrow 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Penn State Altoona led 3-2 in corner kicks.

Penn State Altoona men's soccer returns to action this Saturday, October 23, traveling to face non-conference opponent Bryn Athyn College at 2:00 p.m.
