Farabaugh Repeats as AMCC Offensive Player of the Week

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona senior outside hitter Avery Farabaugh (Ebensburg, PA/Cambria Heights) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Offensive Player of the Week in men's volleyball for the second week in a row, as the conference office announced its weekly awards on Monday.

Farabaugh spearheaded the Lions' offense in a tri-match split with non-conference opponents Wilkes University and Manhattanville College on Saturday in Wilkes-Barre.

In Penn State Altoona's 3-0 loss to host Wilkes, Farabaugh totaled a team-high 15 points on 13 kills, two block assists, and one solo block. Later that day, in the Lions' 3-1 victory against Manhattanville, the senior led all players in the match with 21 points on 17 kills, two service aces, two block assists, and a solo block.

In his two matches last week, Farabaugh recorded 36 points (5.1 points per set) and 30 kills (4.29 kills per set) while compiling a .279 attack percentage. The senior currently leads the AMCC in points per set (4.3) and kills per set (3.76) through six matches this season, and he is also fifth in the conference in total kills (79) and sixth in total points (91.0).

This is Farabaugh's second AMCC Player of the Week award this season, and it is the second of his collegiate career.

Penn State Altoona men's volleyball is 2-4 this season. The Lions will hit the road to compete in another tri-match this Saturday, February 3 at Chatham University, as Penn State Altoona will take on Carlow University at 1 p.m. and Chatham at 3 p.m.
