Cannistraci Takes AMCC Player of the Week Honors

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – Penn State Altoona women's basketball's junior guard/forward Alexis Cannistraci (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

Cannistraci averaged a double-double last week to power the Lady Lions to a pair of AMCC wins.

In Wednesday night's 62-58 win over Pitt-Greensburg, Cannistraci totaled 13 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, two steals, and two assists. In Saturday afternoon's 87-49 victory over Alfred State College, she grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds while scoring 15 points, recording four steals, blocking three shots, and dishing out two assists.

On the week, Cannistraci averaged 14.0 points per game, 14.0 rebounds per game, 3.0 blocks per game, 3.0 steals per game, and 2.0 assists per game. The junior currently ranks among the AMCC's top players in several different statistical categories, including being second in the conference in points per game (17.7), steals per game (2.9), and blocks per game (1.7), as well as fifth in rebounds per game (9.6).

Penn State Altoona women's basketball's next game is this Wednesday, December 11 at 8:00 p.m., when the Lady Lions will host nearby AMCC rival Mount Aloysius College.
