Women’s Swimming Falls to Behrend in Spring Meet

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's swimming team returned to intercollegiate action for the first and only time in the 2020-21 year on Saturday afternoon, when they faced Penn State Behrend in a dual meet at the Junker Center.

The Lady Lions suffered a 155-80 loss to Behrend in Penn State Altoona's only scheduled meet of the spring.

Avery Heisey (Lancaster, PA/Conestoga Valley) recorded a team-high three individual first place finishes, while Grace Dangelo (State College, PA/State College) notched two individual first places. Heisey and Dangelo were also part of a relay team that grabbed a first place finish.

Heisey's first win of the day came in the 50 Yard Freestyle, when she clocked in at 26.13. Several events later, she took first place in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 58.20, and she notched her third win of the meet in the 50 Yard Butterfly, finishing in 29.51.

Dangelo picked up her first win of the meet in the 100 Yard Butterfly, finishing in 1:03.05 to triumph in the swim. She later prevailed in the 100 Yard I.M., placing first with a time of 1:05.79. Dangelo also took second in the 500 Yard Freestyle, in which she finished in 5:46.78.

In the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, Heisey and Dangelo combined with teammates Kaitlin Heil (Pittsburgh, PA/CAPA) and Sarah Petry (St. Benedict, PA/Cambria Heights) for a total time of 1:49.98 to grab first place.

Heil secured a second place finish in the 50 Yard Breaststroke, recording a time of 37.28. Petry also earned a runner-up place in the 100 Yard Backstroke, in which she clocked in at 1:07.92.
