Penn State Altoona scored the first three points of the opening set, courtesy of errors by Gettysburg. But the Bullets bounced back to score six in a row to take a three-point lead. Myers' kill helped the Lions cut their deficit to two, 8-6, but another 6-0 run by the home team expanded Gettysburg's advantage to eight, 14-6. The Bullets went ahead by as many as 11 points and went on to win the first set 25-14.

Gettysburg avoided another sluggish start in the second set, when it started on a 5-0 run and boosted its lead to six, 7-1. An ace from Gabriella Serra (Queens, NY/Benjamin Cardozo) and kill by Simanski got the Lions to within four, 10-6, and a Barnhart kill and Gettysburg attack error cut Penn State Altoona's deficit to three, 11-8. But the Bullets did not allow the Lions to get any closer over the rest of the set, as Gettysburg went up by as many as 12 points and took the second set 25-15.

With the score tied 2-2 early in the third set, Gettysburg scored the next five points to go ahead 7-2. Three consecutive kills by Price, Port, and Barnhart later in the set brought Penn State Altoona back to within three, 11-8. Several points later, two Gettysburg attack errors and a Brinker ace trimmed the home team's lead to two, 17-15. But the Bullets scored the next four points to make it a six-point difference, 21-15, and Gettysburg eventually won the set 25-19.

Next, Penn State Altoona women's volleyball will compete in a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday, September 30 at Stevenson University. The Lions will start their day with a match versus Penn State Berks at 3 p.m., then finish against Stevenson at 5 p.m.
