DOVER, Ohio – The Penn State Altoona men's golf team got its 2021 season off to an impressive start on Saturday afternoon, when the Lions played the first round of the two-day Gatorade Collegiate, hosted by Wooster College at Zoar Village Golf Course.

Penn State Altoona compiled a team score of 305, as four of the Lions' five players in the lineup shot under 80. The team score was good enough to place Penn State Altoona in sixth out of nine teams, and seventh out of 11 teams when factoring programs' 'B' squads into the standings.

Capital University held down first place on the team leaderboard with a score of 283 by the conclusion of day one. Westminster College followed in second place with 291, and Wooster rounded out the top three with 293.

Freshman Logan Divald (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) led the way for Penn State Altoona on Saturday in his first collegiate event, shooting 73 to tie for eighth place out of 58 individuals. Divald's score of 73 is tied for the fourth-lowest score in a round in Lions golf program history.

Junior Andrew Ferguson (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) and freshman Joey Toth (South Park, PA/South Park) each carded a 77 to tie for 26th place. Freshman Jacob Carlin (Fayetteville, PA/Chambersburg) fired a 78 to tie for 30th place, and sophomore Trey Heffelfinger (Mount Union, PA/Mount Union) rounded out the Lions' five with an 81 to tie for 37th place.
