Men’s Golf in Seventh After Day One at Gettysburg Invite

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's golf shot 309 as a team on Sunday to finish the first of the two-day Battle at the Burg, hosted by Gettysburg College, in seventh place out of nine teams at Hanover Country Club.

Stevens Institute of Technology shot 292 to rank in first after day one, while host Gettysburg was in second with 296. Franklin & Marshall College took third place with 297.

Iain Murphy-Herndon (Oldsmar, FL/Saddlebrook Prep) and Trey Heffelfinger (Mount Union, PA/Mount Union) each shot 75 to tie for 12th place individually out of 47 total golfers.

Logan Divald (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) carded a 79 to tie for 27th place, and Andrew Ferguson (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) fired an 80 to tie for 29th place. Jacob Carlin (Fayetteville, PA/Chambersburg) scored 84 to tie for 41st place.

Penn State Altoona men's golf is back tomorrow, Monday, October 4, for day two of the Battle at the Burg. The second day tees off with a 12:00 p.m. shotgun start.
