Lions Golf Takes Seventh Place at Battle in the Burg

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – After the second and final day of Gettysburg College's Battle at the Burg at Hanover Country Club on Monday, the Penn State Altoona men's golf team settled into seventh place out of nine teams.

The Lions posted a one-shot improvement over their round one score, shooting 308 as a team during Monday's round to finish with a two-day score of 617.

Host school Gettysburg came back to take first place, finishing with 583, while Stevens Institute of Technology finished in second with 592. Franklin & Marshall College was third with 595.

Iain Murphy-Herndon (Oldsmar, FL/Saddlebrook Prep) shot 74 during Monday's round on the par 71 course, finishing with a two-day score of 149 that put him in a tie for eighth place out of 47 individual golfers. Trey Heffelfinger (Mount Union, PA/Mount Union) fired a 76 on Monday, finishing in a tie for 16th place individually with a two-round score of 151.

Logan Divald (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) duplicated his score from Sunday, carding a 79 to finish the event with 158 and place 33rd individually. Andrew Ferguson (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) tied for 34th place, shooting 79 on Monday to finish with a combined score of 159. Jacob Carlin (Fayetteville, PA/Chambersburg) shot 80 in Monday's round to place in a tie for 41st with a two-day score of 164.

Next up is Penn State Altoona's final regular season event before the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships, as the Lions will compete in the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic on Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10. The two-day tournament is hosted by McDaniel College at The Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown.
