Men’s Golf Wraps Up Regular Season With 14th Place Finish at Mason-Dixon

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Penn State Altoona men's golf finished in 14th place as a team after the second and final day of this weekend's Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic on Sunday at The Bridges Golf Club.

The Lions shot 324 in Sunday's round of the event, which was hosted by McDaniel College, finishing with a two-day score of 641 to rank them in 14th place out of 15 teams. Sunday's round concludes Penn State Altoona's regular season schedule, as the team will now turn its focus to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships next week.

Gettysburg College won the event with a two-day score of 590. Host school McDaniel took runner-up status with 591, and York College placed third with 592.

Andrew Ferguson (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) shot a team-best 80 in Sunday's round on the par 72 course, finishing with a combined score of 161 to come in a tie for 55th place out of 75 individuals. Trey Heffelfinger (Mount Union, PA/Mount Union) and Iain Murphy-Herndon (Oldsmar, FL/Saddlebrook Prep) each carded an 81 on Sunday, with Heffelfinger finishing the weekend with a team-best 155 to tie for 30th place and Murphy-Herndon compiling a score of 164 to tie for 64th place.

Logan Divald (North Huntingdon, PA/North Huntingdon) shot 82 on Sunday, finishing with a combined score of 163 to tie for 61st place individually. Joey Toth (South Park, PA/South Park) scored a 90 on Sunday, tallying a total score of 171 to finish tie for 71st place.

Now, with the 2021 regular season behind it, Penn State Altoona men's golf will prepare for the two-day AMCC Championships, which will be held at Butler Country Club next Monday, October 18 and Tuesday, October 19. Penn State Altoona will act as the host institution for the event, which will crown the conference champion and send the winner to the NCAA Division III Championships in the spring.
