WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Penn State Altoona men's golf team capped its first event of the spring semester with a third place finish at The Ruckus, following the second and final day of the tournament on Sunday at Williamsburg National Golf Club's Jamestown Course.

Following the Lions' team score of 312 in Saturday's round, Penn State Altoona shot 316 as a team on Sunday to settle into third place out of 12 competing squads with a total score of 628. "We had a lot of bright spots this weekend and identified some weaknesses to improve upon," said Penn State Altoona head coach Tom Koehle. "I'm thrilled for Trey, who was in the individual race until the end."

Trey Heffelfinger (Mount Union, PA/Mount Union) duplicated his score from Saturday's round, shooting 75 again on Sunday to finish with a two-day score of 150, which put him in a tie for third place individually out of 63 total golfers. Logan Divald (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) also matched his Saturday score, shooting 76 for the second straight day to compile a two-day score of 152 that put him into a tie for eighth place on the individual leaderboard.

Andrew Ferguson (Altoona, PA/Tyrone) tied for 12th place individually with a two-day score of 155, shooting 80 in Sunday's round. Jacob Carlin (Fayetteville, PA/Chambersburg) and Joey Toth (South Park, PA/South Park) rounded out Penn State Altoona's starting five, with Carlin scoring 85 on Sunday to finish with a combined score of 171 and Toth shooting 89 in Sunday's round to finish with a two-day score of 185.

Nathan Graham (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) again competed as an individual for the Lions, carding an 83 on Sunday to finish with a two-day score of 161, tying for 24th place overall.

Next up, the Penn State Altoona golf team will host the two-day Penn State Division III Challenge on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 at the Penn State Blue and White Golf Courses in State College. The field will be comprised of men's golf teams from each of Penn State's Division III institutions.

"We are excited to host our next event two weeks from now against our fellow Penn State D3s," said Koehle.
