Men’s Golf in Seventh After Day One of Farmingdale Invite

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – After the first round of the two-day Farmingdale State Spring Invitational on Saturday, the Penn State Altoona men's golf team found itself in seventh place out of nine teams.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute held first place with a team score of 290 at the conclusion of day one of the tournament, which is hosted by Farmingdale State College at Bethpage State Park's Red Course. New York University was in second place with 293, and host Farmingdale State was in third with 297.

The Lions shot 306 as a team on the par 70 course, ending the first day ahead of Nichols College (307) and Adelphi University (312) on the team leaderboard.

Jack DiTrani (Hinsdale, IL/Benet Academy) shot 4-over par to post Penn State Altoona's low score on the day, and he finished the round tied for 14th place out of 51 individuals. DiTrani's 74 also ties for his lowest score of the 2022-23 season.

Trey Heffelfinger (Mount Union, PA/Mount Union) and Peter Nusbaum (Pittsboro, NC/Thales Academy) each carded 76 to tie for 27th place on the player leaderboard. Michael Gloth (Glenwood, MD/Glenelg) finished the round with 80, and Owen Wise (Lewistown, PA/Mifflin County) shot 81.

The second and final round of the invitational is tomorrow, Sunday, April 23, with tee times scheduled to start at approximately 9 a.m.
