Men’s Swimming Earns Second Dual Meet Win at Chatham

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team traveled for the first time during its 2021-22 schedule on Saturday, and the Lions secured a 115-52 victory at non-conference foe Chatham University at the Sigo Falk Natatorium.

Penn State Altoona recorded a total of eight first place finishes, consisting of seven individual wins and one first place in a relay event, to clinch its second dual meet win of the season.

Isaac Swanson (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) earned three individual first places on the day. In the 200 Yard Freestyle, he prevailed with a time of 1:51.11. He won the next men's event, the 50 Yard Freestyle, by clocking in at 24.34. Swanson picked up his third individual win later in the meet, claiming victory in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 49.89.

Laurence Wang (New Zealand/Auckland Grammar School) took first place in the 200 Yard IM, finishing in 2:05.90 to place atop the standings. Flavio Tokunaga (South Korea/Seoul Foreign School) won the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 59.02. Luke Pletz (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) finished in first place in the 100 Yard Backstroke, finishing in 58.11. Noah Jordan (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) won the 100 Yard Breaststroke by clocking in at 1:07.85.

In the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, the group of Yash Ray (King of Prussia, PA/Conestoga), Pletz, Tokunaga, and Wang came together to post a time of 1:33.03 to claim first place for the Lions' eighth and final win of the meet.

Penn State Altoona men's swimming gets back in action next Saturday, October 30, traveling to Steubenville, Ohio to take on Division II opponent Alderson Broaddus University in a dual meet hosted at Franciscan University's home pool.
