Men’s Swimming Holds Seventh After Day One at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team grabbed seventh place out of nine teams by the conclusion of day one of the three-day Oberlin College Invitational on Thursday at the Carr Pool.

Penn State Altoona took seventh place in the meet-opening 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, during which the group of Bryce Bauer (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone), Noah Jordan (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield), Flavio Tokunaga (South Korea/Seoul Foreign School), and Tomasz Zukowski (Slatington, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) combined for a time of 1:35.84.

In the 500 Yard Freestyle, Isaac Swanson (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) set a new Penn State Altoona men's team record by finishing in 4:53.22 to win the 'B' final and place ninth overall in the standings. Swanson's time beats his own record from January 14, 2020, which was a time of 4:55.28.

In the 200 Yard IM, Luke Pletz (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) competed in the 'A' final and took eighth place with a time of 2:05.58.

Yash Ray (King of Prussia, PA/Conestoga) took eighth in the 'A' final of the 50 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 22.32.

Penn State Altoona wrapped up the meet with a seventh place finish in the 400 Yard Medley Relay, during which the team of Swanson, Jordan, Pletz, and Ray combined to post a time of 3:42.92 to seal seventh place.

The men's swimming team returns to the water tomorrow, Friday, November 19, for day two of the Oberlin College Invitational. Preliminaries kick off the day at 9:00 a.m., followed by the finals at 6:00 p.m.
