Men’s Swimming Takes Seventh in Oberlin Invitational

OBERLIN, Ohio – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team locked down seventh place out of nine teams by the end of the third and final day of the Oberlin College Invitational on Saturday at Carr Pool, as the Lions totaled a team score of 492.

The top two team finishers in the invitational were Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference teams. Alfred State College won the event with a three-day score of 1130.5, while Penn State Behrend came in second with a score of 1118.

In the first event of the evening, the 1650 Yard Freestyle, Ethan Andrews (McVeytown, PA/Mifflin County) came in 15th place with a time of 19:47.58.

The Lions had two swimmers compete in the 'A' final for the 200 Yard Backstroke, as Luke Pletz (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) took fourth place overall with a time of 2:00.12 and Isaac Swanson (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) came in sixth place by clocking in at 2:00.74.

Yash Ray (King of Prussia, PA/Conestoga) also earned a spot in the 'A' final for the 100 Yard Freestyle, placing seventh by finishing in 48.48. Noah Jordan (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) swam in the 'A' final for the 200 Yard Breaststroke and took sixth place with a time of 2:19.84, and Matt Lenze (Duncansville, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) got 21st place with a time of 2:39.18 in the 'C' final.

The Lions wrapped up the meet with a seventh place finish in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, where the team of Swanson, Ray, Jordan, and Flavio Tokunaga (South Korea/Seoul Foreign School) totaled a time of 3:19.68.

The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team returns home for its next event, hosting Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend on Saturday, December 4 at 1:00 p.m.
