Men’s Swimming Sweeps Wells, Earns 99-15 Victory

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team picked up its fourth dual meet win of the season on Saturday afternoon in the Adler Natatorium, when the Lions won all nine events to record a 99-15 win over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Wells College.

Laurence Wang (New Zealand/Auckland Grammar School) led the way for Penn State Altoona, recording three individual first place finishes. Meanwhile, Ethan Andrews (McVeytown, PA/Mifflin County), Luke Pletz (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson), and Isaac Swanson (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) finished with two individual wins apiece.

Wang's first win of the day came in the 50 Yard Freestyle, in which he totaled a time of 22.89 to place first. Several events later, he won the 100 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 50.26, and he later took first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:08.74.

Andrews prevailed in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:16.65, and he also achieved first place in the 500 Yard Freestyle by finishing in 5:39.38.

Pletz took first in the 200 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 2:00.53, and his second win of the day happened in the 100 Yard Butterfly, during which he finished in 57.57.

Swanson won the 1,650 Yard Freestyle by finishing in 17:43.07, and he later took first place in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 58.48.

Next up, the Penn State Altoona men's swimming team will finish out its home schedule on Friday, January 21, when the Lions will host AMCC foe Pitt-Bradford for a 6:00 p.m. dual meet in Adler.
