Men’s Swimming Overpowers Bradford on Senior Night

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team posted a convincing 130-28 victory over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford on Friday night in the Lions' final home meet of the season.

Before the meet, Penn State Altoona recognized senior swimmer Bryce Bauer (Tyrone, PA/Tyrone) on his four-year collegiate swimming career for the team's Senior Night. The Lions helped send Bauer off by sweeping the meet, winning all 11 events to wrap up its fifth dual meet victory of the season.

Luke Pletz (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) and Laurence Wang (New Zealand/Auckland Grammar School) each recorded two individual first place finishes to help lead the way for the Lions on Friday.

Pletz prevailed in the 400 Yard IM with a time of 4:55.88, and he later took first place in the 100 Yard Backstroke by clocking in at 55.94. Wang earned his first win of the meet in the 100 Yard IM by finishing in 59.14, and he also came in first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 55.83.

Bauer recorded a first place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 24.58. Ethan Andrews (McVeytown, PA/Mifflin County) took first place in the 500 Yard Freestyle by clocking in at 5:34.86. Isaac Swanson (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) triumphed in the 200 Yard Freestyle, finishing in 1:49.38. Noah Jordan (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) won the 100 Yard Breaststroke in 1:05.74. Tomasz Zukowski (Slatington, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) finished in first place in the 100 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 54.48.

Penn State Altoona also won both of the night's relay events. In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the team of Pletz, Jordan, Zukowski, and Bauer combined for a first place time of 1:45.52. The Lions' foursome of Andrews, Swanson, Matt Lenze (Duncansville, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle), and Wang came together to post a time of 3:40.29 to take first.

The Lions' final meet of the regular season is next Saturday, January 29, when the team will travel to Elizabethtown College to compete in a tri-meet starting at 1:00 p.m. That day, Penn State Altoona will face off against non-conference opponent Elizabethtown and Juniata College.
