Men’s Swimming Defeats Lycoming 154-71 in Semester Finale

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's swimming team competed in its first home meet of the 2022-23 season on Friday night in the Adler Natatorium, and the Lions posted a 154-71 win over non-conference opponent Lycoming College.

Penn State Altoona recorded 11 first place finishes in the meet, which is the Lions' last event until the team's schedule resumes in January. Adam Marawan (Dubai, UAE/GEMS Dubai American Academy), Isaac Swanson (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield), and Jack Zisa (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) each had two first place finishes individually.

Marawan won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 22.40, and he later took first place in the 100 Yard IM by finishing in 56.46. Swanson prevailed in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:51.46, and his second win of the night was in the 100 Yard Backstroke, during which he posted a time of 57.81. Zisa triumphed in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 51.58, and he later won the 500 Yard Freestyle after clocking in at 5.23.60.

Ethan Andrews (McVeytown, PA/Mifflin County) earned an individual win in the 50 Yard Butterfly, in which he finished in 25.38. Luke Pletz (Jefferson Hills, PA/Thomas Jefferson) took first place in the 50 Yard Backstroke by recording a time of 27.51. Laurence Wang (New Zealand/Auckland Grammar School) won the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 54.43.

Penn State Altoona also won both of the meet's relay events. In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the foursome of Zisa, Adam Dotts (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin), Wang, and Marawan combined for a time of 1:42.54 to take first place. Later, the team of Dotts, Wang, Zisa, and Swanson came in first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a total time of 1:32.73.

Now, with its second dual meet win of the season under its belt, the Penn State Altoona men's swimming team will head into winter break. The Lions' next event is Saturday, January 21, when they will welcome Chatham University and Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Bradford to Adler for a meet starting at 1:00 p.m.
